ACCOUNTABILITY

My first priority will be to focus on the budget of the Clerk’s Office. I know there hasn’t been a Performance Audit in 24 years on the functionality of the policies and procedures of the office. In addition, the financial audits every year by the State Auditor show that the office is over budget. Based on a review of the financial statements of the office, the high salaries of management and the amount of staffing are the major contributors to the failed audits. My focus is to come in compliance with the State Auditor’s recommendations and work to help reduce the budget yearly for the sake of the taxpayers. I plan on leaning on my operational and management experience of being a public official of Youngstown Public Schools, where fiscal responsibility of a $160 million dollar budget was a priority for the district.
